The Board of Sekal AS is pleased to announce the appointment of Atle Sonesen as the new Chief Executive Officer of Sekal with effect from 1 February 2021. Sonesen comes from the position as COO of Noreco ASA.
Mr. Sonesen has a broad and extensive experience within the oil and gas industry. His insights include drilling & well technology and operations, technology development, sales & marketing, business development, project and asset management. He has been responsible for large capital projects, portfolios of producing oil and gas fields, building organisational capabilities, and for overall business delivery in both management, executive, and board roles.
Throughout his career he has been working for companies like Schlumberger, GDF SUEZ, VNG Norge, and Noreco amongst others.
Sonesen holds a Master of Science degree (MSc) in Petroleum Technology from Rogaland University.

Mr. Østdal says further, “I would also like to use this opportunity to sincerely thank Sveinung Lofthus for his years of commitment and hard work to bring the company where it is today, as he now has decided to step down from his CEO role. I wish him all the best of luck for the future.”
