Sekal has expanded PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB) adoption of Sekal’s real-time digital twin technology and services with the inclusion of Sekal’s Automated Drilling Control software DrillTronics® into its current contract. This is the first implementation of DrillTronics® outside of the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS) and commenced in Q2 2022 with a successful Proof of Concept offshore West Malaysia.
Sekal and its Malaysian local agent, Faazmiar Technology Sdn Bhd (Faazmiar), have been providing DrillExpect® (Wellbore Simulation) and DrillScene® (Transient Wellbore Monitoring in real-time) to PETRONAS Carigali since 2016.
With the support of Faazmiar and Sumitomo Corporation’s local subsidiary, SC Tubular Solutions Malaysia (SCTSM), Sekal is very pleased to continue our long-term relationship with PETRONAS Carigali with the delivery of DrillTronics® Drilling Automation Software and services in support of PETRONAS Carigali’s Rig Mechanized Automation (RMA) journey. Faazmiar Engineers locally are concurrently trained to continue executing and enabling DrillTronics® automation and protection on a 24/7 basis.
Adoption of Sekal technologies contributes to operational efficiency improvement and reduction of CO2 emissions with a Rystad’s study indicating a ~17 % reduction potential in CO2 emissions with Sekal implementation.
