SERVICE DELIVERY ENGINEER

At Sekal, we believe that fully autonomous drilling is possible. As we expand our business, we are seeking a highly qualified Service Delivery Engineer to join our talented team in Aberdeen and play a key role in the global deployment of our advanced drilling solutions.

The ideal candidate thrives on technical implementations, values building strong customer relationships, and collaborates effectively with internal technology / operational teams. In addition to extensive practical experience with drilling technology, the candidate should demonstrate a broad technical understanding of digital automation deployments, operational IT / Cyber Security, software development and project management processes.

We are looking for a proactive and pragmatic individual, interested in working with cutting-edge technology that has the power to make real changes to the industry.  In this role, you will be a vital member of our Operations team, reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, contributing to an innovative and expanding environment alongside skilled, experienced, and creative colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage project timelines and key milestones related to software deployment, commissioning and testing requirements.
  • Lead the operational deployment and maintenance of Sekal’s automated drilling solutions, assisting with initial project definition and planning, leading rig site delivery and ongoing operational support.
  • Support the full product lifecycle of Sekal solutions—from project execution and deployment to testing to real-time monitoring support of drilling operations.
  • Provide technical support for both onshore and offshore activities, including hardware/software installations, upgrades, commissioning, Acceptance Testing (SAT/FAT), and end-user training.
  • Travel to client locations and offshore / onshore rig-site locations for system installation / commissioning, operational support, and end user training scopes.
  • Conduct rigorous software performance and functionality testing in simulated and live drilling environments to ensure robust and reliable deployment.
  • Facilitate and contribute to project meetings, ensuring clear alignment and communication with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Develop operational workflows and create detailed instructional materials for use during operations.
  • Participate in software performance and functionality testing using drilling simulators.
  • Provide expert-level technical support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution for clients, serving as the primary link between clients and the R&D team, collecting user feedback to generate actionable insights and drive ongoing system improvements.
  • Oversee maintenance and upgrades of existing deployment infrastructures, engaging with key stakeholders to ensure optimum delivery during execution.
  • Act as a key contributor and subject matter expert for global deployment projects and for the wider technical support team.

 

Education and Qualification:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Geoscience, or a related technical discipline.
  • Industry Experience: 5–7 years of relevant experience within the Exploration & Production (E&P) industry, ideally gained through roles in oil companies, service providers, or software/technology companies supporting drilling operations.
  • Drilling Operations: Practical experience in drilling or well operations is essential—preferably with hands-on rig exposure in roles such as Data Engineer, MWD/LWD Engineer, or other similar drilling-related functions.
  • Certificates: Offshore certificate will be required, but can be provided.

 

Competencies and Personal Skills:

  • Solid understanding and working knowledge of the drilling / well construction process and automation solutions.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel, onshore/offshore, both domestic and abroad.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Proactive and motivated self-starter who takes ownership of responsibilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team with excellent cooperative skills.
  • Flexible and out-of-the-box thinker.
  • Ability to manage customer expectations and communications with client personnel.
  • Good cooperation skills, internally and externally.
  • Result-oriented with the ability to take and implement required actions.
  • Knowledge of drilling optimization software or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure and networking, Cybersecurity, drilling rig/control systems.
