Sekal’s DrillTronics™ is now running on Statoil’s Statfjord C!
After a successful commissioning on Statoil’s Statfjord C, DrillTronics™ was implemented on October 2, 2014. This made Statfjord C one of the world’s most advanced drilling rigs.
Drilling with DrillTronics™ started on October 5 and ran smoothly the entire time during all sections, from start to finish. During operations, DrillTronics™ was actively used with few exceptions. The drillers especially liked the automated functions and the ability to measure consistency and improvement in connection time and tripping speeds.
We have been told that this first implementation of DrillTronics™ has been a success and that our users are looking forward to using it again in the next well.
This is an exciting and important milestone for Sekal and the industry, as it signifies the first instance of drilling process automation applied on a commercial well, globally.
