Following the success of DrillTronics, Sekal is awarded a new contract with Odfjell and Equinor to install and operate its automatic drilling control system, DrillTronics, on the Mariner field (https://www.equinor.com/en/what-we-do/new-field-developments/mariner.html) on the UK continental shelf.
Sekal has over the past years worked closely with Equinor to improve its DrillTronics technology and have demonstrated significant client value on multiple wells. This award is in competition with other major service providers and demonstrates Sekal’s superior technology in controlling and automating the drilling process simultaneously as protecting the wellbore from operational events. On the Mariner PDQ platform, DrillTronics is integrated into the drilling control system and will be used when the drilling campaign starts first half of 2019. Using DrillTronics reduces the risk for operational failure, improve drilling efficiency and lower drilling cost.
